What Does Stress Have to Do with It?

The ultimate cause of dis-ease is stress. The chemistry of fear and stress leads to pain, illness and disease. Chronic illness is different than acute illness. It originates with stress. Stress can come in the form of physical, emotional, or chemical. Traditional medicine does miracles with acute illness, trauma, injury, and infection. But with chronic illness, it treats the symptoms, rather than the causes. It is easier to take a pill than figure out the root cause for the issue. We live in a world with a sick care system, not a health care system. (Think about it: If we were all healthy, pharmaceutical companies would go out of business!) It is incredibly challenging to live a healthy holistic lifestyle in our world today. Most of us live in a go-go society and it makes it so difficult for us to eat well and do what our bodies and minds need to be truly healthy.

There are different kinds of stress that knock our bodies out of balance. Physical stress, such as an accident or fall, can cause blockages in our system. Chemical stress, such as processed foods, heavy metals, and toxins from our environment can build up and disrupt hormones. Emotional stress, from our jobs, the death of a loved one, etc., gets stored in the cells of our bodies. When it’s not released, it creates blockages in the nervous system. These different kinds of chronic stress activate our adrenal system and the fight or flight response. It mobilizes energy from other systems (for memory, digestion, eliminating toxins, etc) to protect the body, and end up compromising our immune system that works so hard to keep us healthy. When these stress responses are not released, they settle into our nervous system and create blockages in the spine and body, leading to pain, mental health disorders, autoimmune disorders, and the list goes on. Chronic stress is not a natural state for anyone. Normal healing cannot happen if the body is in a constant state of fight or flight. Accessing energy healing modalities offers an alternative approach to all the traditional methods we are more familiar with. Who are we to say that every healing treatment has already been discovered? I believe we have only touched the tip of the iceberg in being able to utilize not only our unique energy systems for overall health and well-being, but the energy in the universe as we know it. It’s pretty exciting stuff if you ask me. ;-)
